The New England Patriots re-signed cornerback Marquice Cole on Monday, one day after releasing him.

Cole, 29, played in 14 regular-season games (one start) for the Patriots last year, finishing with 12 tackles and one interception. He also saw action in two playoff games, adding four tackles on both defense and special teams.

The Northwestern product also played for the New York Jets from 2009-11.

The Patriots released rookie offensive lineman Josh Kline to open a roster spot for Cole.
