Lake Forest, IL – The Chicago Bears established their 53- man active roster Saturday by releasing a pair of players and reaching injury settlements with three others.
Chicago waived linebacker J.T. Thomas and wide receiver Terrence Toliver. The club also waived/injured safety Brandon Hardin, who will revert to the Bears' injured reserve list if he clears waivers.
The Bears also reached injury settlement with offensive tackle Cory Brandon and defensive tackle Corvey Irvin.
Chicago did most of its trimming on Friday when it released former starting left tackle J'Marcus Webb.
Webb started 44 games for Chicago over the previous three seasons and was penciled in to start at right tackle in 2013 but struggled mightily throughout the preseason.
Meanwhile, quarterback Jordan Palmer, who started Chicago's 18-16 preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, announced on his Twitter account that he was unemployed
"I really appreciate all the kind words from the #Bears fans but I'm headed home today. Crazy biz but appreciative," Palmer wrote.
The Bears also waived goodbye to fellow quarterback Trent Edwards as well as running backs Armando Allen and Harvey Unga, wide receivers Brittan Golden and Josh Lenz, offensive lineman Edwin Williams, offensive guard Derek Dennis, tight end Fendi Onobun, defensive ends Aston Whiteside and Josh Williams, defensive tackle Christian Tupou, linebacker Jerry Franklin, cornerback Demontre Hurst, safety Tom Nelson and long snapper Brandon Hartson on Friday.
