The Phoenix Suns signed center Alex Len on Thursday.
Len became the highest-drafted Ukrainian in NBA history after being selected with the fifth overall pick in this June's NBA Draft.
Last season, the 7-foot-1 center averaged 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 38 games for Maryland, earning All-ACC Defensive Team honors and an All-ACC Honorable mention.
In two seasons with the Terrapins, Len averaged 9.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per contest.
Len also played for the Ukrainian national team in the 2010 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, averaging 16.0 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.3 blocks in nine games.
In addition, the Suns traded forward Caron Butler to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard Ish Smith and center Viacheslav Kravtsov.
