NEW YORK – Breaking a sweat? Barely. Saving on the electric bill? For sure.
The women headlining the night sessions at the U.S. Open have been getting things over in a hurry.
Including sixth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Chanelle Scheepers on Thursday, the winners of the four women's night matches in Arthur Ashe Stadium this week have lost a combined six games.
The winners — No. 1 Serena Williams, No. 2 Victoria Azarenka, No. 15 Sloane Stephens and Wozniacki — have needed a grand total of 3 hours, 46 minutes to wrap up their drama-free victories. That's only 42 minutes longer than Venus Williams was on the court in her three-set loss to Zheng Jie in Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday.
