All eyes were on Geno Smith Saturday night at MetLife Stadium as the New York Jets battled the New York Giants in preseason action.

Billy Cundiff's 32-yard field goal with 8:04 left in overtime gave the Jets a 24-21 victory in their 45th consecutive preseason matchup with the Giants.

Smith, the rookie second-round pick from West Virginia, completed 16-of-30 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He sat last week with an ankle injury as Mark Sanchez led the Jets to an easy 37-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jets' quarterback competition may have taken an interesting turn, though, but not because of Smith's play. Sanchez took over for Smith early in the fourth quarter and connected on 5-of-6 passes for 72 yards before leaving with what appeared to be an injury to his throwing shoulder. The seriousness of Sanchez's injury was not immediately known.

Matt Simms was the only Jets quarterback that looked good. He completed 6- of-10 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown for the Jets, who turned the ball over five times.

Ryan Spadola caught three passes for 110 yards and a score, Ben Obomanu hauled in three passes for 56 yards and a touchdown and Bilal Powell added a rushing score.

Eli Manning connected on 8-of-20 passes for 83 yards for the Giants. Curtis Painter completed 13-of-29 passes for 140 yards.

David Wilson carried the ball five times for 92 yards, including an 84-yard TD run.

The Giants took a 15-14 lead early in the fourth quarter when Smith stepped out of the back of the end zone for a safety.

Sanchez took over and fumbled the ball on the Jets' next possession. That led to Josh Brown making a 50-yard field goal for the Giants.

The injury to Sanchez took place on the ensuing drive when he took a hard shot from Giants defensive tackle Marvin Austin just after throwing a pass.

Simms threw a 22-yard TD pass to Spadola with 2:02 remaining to give the Jets a 21-18 lead.

Brown's 40-yard field goal with 37 seconds left tied the contest.

Giants running back Da'Rel Scott fumbled on the first play of overtime, giving the Jets the ball at the 26 of the Giants. However, Nick Folk missed a 39-yard field goal.

The Jets started from their own 4-yard line after forcing the Giants to punt. Spadola's 70-yard catch set up Cundiff's game-winning field goal.
