Carolina's aggressive defense has forced 10 turnovers, scored on 4 returns this preseason

Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott likes his unit's aggressive offensive-minded approach and hopes it carries over to the regular season.

McDermott's improved defense has produced 10 turnovers and scored four defensive touchdowns this preseason — three of those in a 34-27 win over the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

McDermott says coaches have been placing added emphasis on creating turnovers — and apparently the players are listening. Led by middle linebacker Luke Kuechly, Carolina returned two interceptions and one fumble for TDs against the Ravens.

Now coach Ron Rivera wants Cam Newton and the offense get into the act.

Carolina's first-team offense has managed just touchdown this preseason — that coming on a short field after a turnover.
