The Oakland Athletics have reacquired catcher Kurt Suzuki from the Washington Nationals, Fox Sports Insider Ken Rosenthal confirms.
In exchange for Suzuki, the Nationals will receive minor-league right-hander Dakota Bacus.
The trade first was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
Suzuki, 29, hit .222/.283/.310 with three homers and 25 RBI in 79 games for the Nationals this season. He debuted with the A's in 2007 and played for them until he was traded to Washington in August of the 2012 season.
Oakland is in need of a catcher because of injuries to John Jaso (concussion) and Derek Norris (toe).
Bacus, 22, was a ninth-round pick by the A's in 2012. In 26 games (16 starts) at Single-A this season, he is 9-5 with a 3.56 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 121 1/3 innings.
