Helio Castroneves is ready to continue IndyCar title chase after scary crash in Brazil

Helio Castroneves realizes he nearly ruined his chance at his first IndyCar championship when he crashed a stock car this month.

He's just grateful to be ready to race in Sonoma after emerging from the wreck relatively unscathed.

The IndyCar points leader says he risked his title hopes by going to a meaningless race in his native Brazil because he made a commitment to the race organizers and his sponsors. He wrecked into a wall on the street course during practice, opening a deep cut on his shin and spraining his neck.

Castroneves acknowledges he had second thoughts about running the race after Tony Stewart crashed his sprint car in Iowa four days before Castroneves' wreck, but felt he couldn't pull out.

He's just thankful the crash wasn't worse.
