New York Yankees infielder Jayson Nix fractured his left hand after being hit by a pitch by Toronto's R.A. Dickey during Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Nix sustained the injury during the second inning and was immediately replaced on the bases by Mark Reynolds. The Yankees revealed the fracture shortly afterward.
The veteran utilityman, who had a solo homer and the game-winning single in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Toronto in the second game of a doubleheader, also missed nearly a month with a right hamstring strain before returning to action in late July.
In 87 games this season, Nix is batting .236 with three home runs and 24 RBI.
