Flushing, NY – Novak Djokovic is the No. 1 seed at the upcoming U.S. Open as the seeds were announced Monday for the year's final major.
Rafael Nadal and reigning champion Andy Murray come in as the No. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively, while Roger Federer, a five-time Open champion, has dropped to No. 7 -- his lowest seed in Flushing since 2002.
Djokovic, currently the No. 1 ranked player in the world, has reached at least the semifinals in each of the last six years, and the last time he was the top seed (2011) he took home the crown.
Nadal is coming off back-to-back titles in Montreal and Cincinnati to climb up the rankings, while Murray is trying to win consecutive majors after winning at Wimbledon last month.
Rounding out the top 10 are David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Juan Martin del Potro, Federer, Richard Gasquet, Stanislas Wawrinka and Milos Raonic.
John Isner, fresh off a finals appearance in Cincinnati, is the highest seeded American at No. 13.
The U.S. Open begins Aug. 26.
