Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - A Hail Mary at the end of the game was successful for the Cleveland Browns, but their 2-point try failed as the Washington Redskins held on for a 24-23 preseason win on Monday. With just seconds to play, Connor Shaw rolled out to the left and tossed the ball down the field and into the end zone from 45 yards out. The ball was then tipped into the hands of Emmanuel Ogbuehi to make it a one-point game. The Browns went for two points and the win, but Shaw was pressured on the roll out to the right and his pass into the end zone sailed high. Robert Griffin III struggled in the start, going 6-for-8 for 112 yards with an interception and a lost fumble. Kirk Cousins led the Redskins on a pair of scoring drives during his time under center, going 12-for-21 with 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Cleveland rookie Johnny Manziel also struggled in his second game, although he didn't start. He did lead the team to a fourth quarter drive that saw him toss his first touchdown pass of the preseason. Washington is 2-0 on the preseason while Cleveland fell to 0-2.

Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Peyton Manning, Brock Osweiler and Zac Dysert threw one touchdown pass each and the Denver Broncos routed the San Francisco 49ers 34-0 in a preseason game on Sunday. Manning played two series and threw just two incompletions on 14 passes. His 17-yard touchdown pass to tight end Julius Thomas in the back of the end zone gave the Broncos a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. C.J. Anderson scored on a 1-yard run before halftime and led all rushers with 29 yards on nine carries. The Broncos beat Seattle 21-16 in their preseason opener on Aug. 7 in Denver just over six months after losing to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Manning was sharp in that game, too, completing 10 of his 13 passes for 78 yards.Colin Kaepernick also played two series, completing five of his nine passes for the 49ers, who lost their preseason opener 23-3 to the Ravens last week. Blaine Gabbert was 8-of-14 for 40 yards and an interception and McLeod Bethel-Thompson also threw a pick.

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Cam Newton was 4-of-9 for 65 yards in his preseason opener as the Carolina Panthers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 28-16, on Sunday night. Newton had left ankle surgery in March and was held out of his team's first exhibition game against Buffalo last week. Jonathan Stewart carried the ball four times for 26 yards and two touchdowns, while second- round rookie Kelvin Benjamin caught two passes for 41 yards for the Panthers. Alex Smith completed 14-of-22 passes for 127 yards for Kansas City. Dwayne Bowe had five receptions for 62 yards and Travis Kelce hauled in four passes for 63 yards and a score.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaron Rodgers completed 11-of-13 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut as the Green Bay Packers defeated the St. Louis Rams, 21-7, in the second exhibition game for both teams on Saturday afternoon. Rodgers, along with running back Eddie Lacy and wide receiver Jordy Nelson, were healthy scratches in Green Bay's first preseason game last week. Lacy carried the ball five times for 25 yards and added two receptions for 22 yards, while Nelson had a touchdown catch called back due to a penalty. Randall Cobb caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown and tight end Andrew Quarless had four receptions for 58 yards in the triumph. Rookie defensive end Michael Sam, who was the first openly- gay player drafted in the NFL, didn't see defensive snaps until the second half for St. Louis. He tallied a sack among his two tackles. Sam Bradford, who hadn't played since tearing his ACL last October, made his first preseason appearance. He was 9-of-12 for 101 yards and a touchdown in defeat.

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Nassib's 4-yard touchdown pass to Corey Washington with 55 seconds left capped a ferocious fourth-quarter comeback for the New York Giants, who pulled out a 27-26 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in a preseason clash. The Giants put up 27 unanswered points in the final 10 1/2 minutes to erase a 26-0 deficit and move to 3-0 this preseason, with both Nassib and fellow backup quarterback Curtis Painter throwing for touchdowns during the rally. Nassib finished 11-of-15 for 158 yards to help offset another rough effort from Eli Manning, who hit on just 1- of-7 throws for six yards on four stalled New York possessions. Andrew Luck led three scoring drives for Indianapolis while playing into the second quarter, with the former No. 1 overall pick going 12-of-18 for 89 yards and tossing a 5-yard touchdown strike to Griff Whalen. Former Giant Hakeem Nicks paced the Colts on the receiving end with five catches for 53 yards.

Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Clyde Gates caught a 17-yard score from Michael Vick early in the fourth quarter as the New York Jets grabbed a 25-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason action on Saturday. Gates' score gave the Jets a 23-17 lead 1 1/2 minutes into the fourth quarter, and IK Enemkpali blocked a Kevin Huber punt with the ball going out of the end zone to give the Jets a safety on Cincinnati's ensuing possession. The Bengals failed on an attempted fourth-down conversion just past midfield later in the fourth, and Matt Scott had a pass picked off a bit later to end the game. Geno Smith played the first half of the game under center for the Jets and went 10-of-13 for 98 yards with an interception. He also had four carries for 20 yards and a score, leading the team to two touchdowns and a field goal during his time under center. Andy Dalton was crisp under center for the Bengals, going 8-of-8 for 144 yards and a score while guiding the team to a pair of touchdowns and a field goal during his three drives.

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Joe Flacco was 9-of-17 for 113 yards and a touchdown as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 37-30, in the second preseason game for both teams on Saturday night. Flacco, who began the game just 1-of-7 and played the entire first half, didn't see his first snap until the 3:25 mark of the opening frame as Baltimore put up two non-offensive touchdowns. Courtney Upshaw returned a fumble 26 yards for a touchdown and Deonte Thompson took a kickoff 108 yards for a score. Torrey Smith hauled in a 19-yard TD reception from Flacco, Bernard Pierce carried the ball seven times for 55 yards and Ray Rice had just two totes for 21 yards in the triumph. Tony Romo played two series in his preseason debut. He was 4-of-5 for 80 yards and tossed a 31-yard TD pass to Dez Bryant, who caught three passes for 59 yards. Romo didn't play in the first exhibition game so he could rest his surgically repaired back.

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Moore went 13-of-19 passing for 158 yards and a touchdown to help the Miami Dolphins in a 20-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in preseason action on Saturday. Damien Williams rushed for 20 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown and hauled in three passes for a team- high 46 yards. Rishard Matthews finished with three receptions for 43 yards and a score in the win. Tampa Bay starter Josh McCown tossed for 46 yards on 5-of-7 passing and a score for Tampa Bay. Mike Kafka also added a touchdown pass late in the contest. After each team's offense went six plays without any points in the opening minutes, Ryan Tannehill orchestrated an 11-play, 62-yard drive that resulted in a successful 48- yard field goal from John Potter. Tannehill went 9-of-14 for 110 yards in limited action.

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Shaun Suisham's 20-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Buffalo Bills, 19-16, in exhibition action on Saturday night. Ben Roethlisberger played the first half, ending up 8-of-11 for 128 yards and tossing first-quarter touchdown strikes to Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. Brown led all receivers with 93 yards on just a pair of catches. E.J. Manuel finished 17-of-27 for 148 yards and one interception for the Bills.
