Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves placed second baseman Dan Uggla on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday in order for him to undergo eye surgery.
Diagnosed with astigmatism in spring training, Uggla opted for corrective surgery after failed experiments with contact lenses.
Uggla is hitting only .186 this season with 21 homers and 53 RBI through 112 games.
In a corresponding move, Tyler Pastornicky was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. The infielder batted .292 (7-for-24) over 18 games during earlier stints with the Braves this year.
