Rochester, NY – Jason Dufner and Jim Furyk have matched pars on the first six holes of the back nine at the 95th PGA Championship as Dufner has kept his 2-shot lead.
Dufner left a 15-foot birdie putt short at 13, but tapped in for par. He missed the next two greens, and used fairway woods to putt inside two feet on both holes. Dufner calmly tapped in for par at 14 and 15 to stay two clear with three holes to go as he tries for his first major championship title.
Furyk came up short of the 13th green, but chipped to two feet and made the par effort. He 2-putted for par on the next two holes, including making a 6- foot par saver at 15 to stay two back.
Henrik Stenson and Jonas Blixt share third at minus-8, while Masters winner Adam Scott is alone in fifth at 6-under par.
Scott Piercy owns the clubhouse lead at minus-5 after he closed with a 5-under 65. That 65 included two bogeys in the last four holes.
Four-time champion Tiger Woods went out in 3-over 38 with a bogey at eight and a double-bogey at nine. Around the turn, he birdied three of four holes from the 12th to get back to even-par for his round. Woods parred the last three holes to finish at 4-over 284.
Miguel Angel Jimenez poured in five straight birdies from the 12th to the 16th en route to a 3-under 67. That was the second time this week that Jimenez birdied five in a row, as he also did it in the first round from the second to the sixth. The Spaniard ended at 2-over 282.
Tim Clark, who finished third at the 2003 PGA at Oak Hill, recorded the first hole-in-one of the week. He aced the par-3 11th, but still struggled to a 75, which left him at plus-10.
British Open champ and Phil Mickelson mixed four birdies, a triple bogey, a double bogey and a bogey in a round of 2-over 72. The 2007 PGA winner ended the tournament at 12-over 292.
