COLUMBUS, Ohio – A year ago they shared space in coach Urban Meyer's doghouse. Now Ohio State's wide receivers are team leaders.
Unproven in 2012, they're grizzled veterans this time around.
Corey Brown had 60 catches, Devin Smith 30 and Evan Spencer 12 last year as a problem area became a strength.
Assistant coach Zach Smith says it's a matter of maturity.
After two years learning Meyer's offense and getting faster and stronger, the guys out wide believe they're ready for a huge season. They say they're no longer thinking about what route they should run or how they should alter a play. Instead, they're reacting without thinking.
And that's made a world of difference.
