World No. 1 star Serena Williams cruised past Magdalena Rybarikova Friday to reach the semifinal round at the $2.369 million Rogers Cup tennis event.

The top-seeded Williams dropped only two games, needing just an hour's time to easily oust the Slovakian 6-1, 6-1. The reigning U.S. and French Open champion captured this Canadian event in 2001 and 2011 and was the runner-up in 2000.

Rybarikova, who was coming off her second straight Washington, D.C., title last week, was broken on serve six times.

Meanwhile, third-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska topped fifth-seeded Italian Sara Errani 7-6 (7-1), 7-5. Radwanska was last year's Wimbledon runner-up, while Errani was the 2012 French Open finalist and beat Radwanska in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros back in June.

Williams and Radwanska will now square off in a marquee semifinal matchup on Saturday.

Fourth-seeded and 2012 Rogers Cup runner-up Li Na also landed in the semis with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 handling of diminutive Slovak Dominika Cibulkova on the hardcourts at Rexall Centre.

The two-time Australian Open runner-up and former French Open champion Li lost to former Wimbledon titlist Petra Kvitova in last year's final in Montreal, as this tournament shifts between Toronto and Montreal each year.

Li could have met Kvitova in a rematch here on Saturday, but the Czech left- hander lost on Friday. The sixth-seeded Kvitova will not defend her title after being ousted by Romanian Sorana Cirstea, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, in 2 hours, 13 minutes on Friday.

Cirstea broke Kvitova's serve no less than seven times en route to the upset.

The 31-year-old Li and 23-year-old Cirstea will do battle in the other semifinal.

The newest Rogers Cup titlist will claim $426,000.
