Arrelious Benn tore his anterior cruciate ligament in practice Tuesday, already the second Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver to suffer the injury in training camp.

Benn, whom the Eagles acquired from Tampa Bay in the offseason, was on special teams duty when the injury occurred to his left knee.

The Eagles' leading receiver in 2012, Jeremy Maclin, went down with a torn ACL on July 29.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Benn was originally a second-round pick by Tampa Bay in the 2010 draft after a stellar college career at the University of Illinois.

In his three seasons with the Bucs, Benn tallied 59 receptions for 862 yards and five touchdowns. His best year came in 2011, when he caught 30 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns.

The club also announced the release of wide receiver Dave Ball on Tuesday.
