Colts receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey sprained his left knee during practice Sunday. It's not clear how much time the former first-round pick may miss.

Indianapolis signed the free agent in April, hoping he could become a consistent deep threat. Heyward-Bey looked solid during the first week of training camp, but a long absence could be a blow to a receiving corps already without LaVon Brazill for the first four games because of an NFL suspension.

Indy does have perennial Pro Bowler Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton, one of last year's top rookie receivers, on its roster.

Rookie running back Dan Moore left practice early with a right shoulder injury. Pro Bowl safety Antoine Bethea returned to camp after being away for his daughter's birth.
