The Atlanta Braves placed reserve outfielder Reed Johnson on the 15-day disabled list following Monday's game against the Colorado Rockies due to tendinitis in his left Achilles.

Johnson injured himself while running to first base during a pinch-hitting appearance in Sunday's 5-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 13-year veteran is batting .263 with one home run and 11 RBI over 66 games this season.

To fill the available roster spot, the Braves purchased the contract of outfielder Todd Cunningham from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Cunningham, rated as the No. 8 overall prospect in the Atlanta organization by MLB.com, has hit .279 with two homers, 30 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 99 games with Gwinnett. The switch-hitter was the Braves' second-round pick in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
