After missing the playoffs, the Giants looking to make amends in NJ's Super Bowl season

Winning the Super Bowl one year and missing the playoffs the next isn't new for either New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin or quarterback Eli Manning.

It happened after they won their first title in February 2008 and it happened again last season.

Both times, the Giants went into the season feeling like they had a chance to repeat and came up short.

It's a lesson that hasn't been lost on Coughlin or the two-time Super Bowl MVP. Things need to change this season, and the two were intent on making things happen as the Giants (9-7) reported to training camp Friday.

There were no absences although some starters — defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, guard Chris Snee and fullback Henry Hynoski — will begin camp on active physically unable to perform list.
