Twins C Mauer placed on paternity list

Anaheim, CA – Twins catcher Joe Mauer was placed on the paternity list and Drew Butera was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

Mauer returned to the Twin Cities after being told during Tuesday's batting practice that his wife was about to deliver twin daughters.

The 30-year-old has to return to the club within three days or be placed on the restricted list, putting him in line for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Butera was hitting just .215 with two homers and 10 RBI in 25 games in the minors.
