The Tampa Bay Buccaneers bolstered their backfield Tuesday, signing running back Peyton Hillis to a one-year contract.
Hillis spent the 2012 campaign with the Kansas City Chiefs and carried the ball 85 times for 309 yards and a touchdown in 13 games, including two starts.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Hillis spent the previous two seasons with Cleveland, where he racked up 1,764 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 431 carries over 26 games, including 23 starts.
A seventh-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2008, Hillis has compiled 597 rushes for 2,470 yards and 21 touchdowns, while catching 111 passes for 867 yards and three touchdowns in 65 games (33 starts) over five seasons with the Broncos, Browns and Chiefs.
Tampa Bay also announced the waiving of running back Matt Brown.
