Texans sign first-round pick Hopkins

Houston, TX – The Houston Texans signed rookie wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on Monday.

Hopkins was selected 27th overall by the Texans in the first round of April's draft.

The 6-foot-1 Hopkins caught 82 passes and set school records with 1,405 receiving yards and 18 touchdown receptions as a junior at Clemson last season. He completed his collegiate career with 206 receptions for 3,020 yards and 27 touchdowns.

The Texans also released nose tackle Ra'Shon Harris, placed safety Orhian Johnson and linebacker Sam Montgomery on the non-football injury list and placed defensive end Earl Okine on the physically unable to perform list.
