Dario Benedetto kicked off the new Mexican Liga season on Friday with a hat trick for Tijuana, but his side was held to a 3-3 draw at home by Atlas.
Benedetto tallied two goals inside of 20 minutes for Tijuana, but Vicente Vuoso pulled one back for Atlas from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark.
Tijuana's lead was stretched to 3-1 in the 64th as Benedetto completed his hat trick, but the hosts were unable to hold that lead as Vuoso netted his second goal of the contest in the 70th to reduce the deficit for Atlas to 3-2.
Edson Rivera completed the comeback six minutes from time when he scored to help Atlas snatch a point.
The other match on Friday saw Morelia secure a 3-1 win at Queretaro with goals from Edgar Andrade, Jefferson Montero and Hector Mancilla.
Leon claimed a 1-0 win over 10-man Atlante with a goal from Mauricio Castandeda in the 82nd minute after Atlante went down to 10 men just 11 minutes into the contest through a red card to Francisco Fonseca.
Aviles Hurtado scored twice for Jaguares, but Angel Martinez tallied the equalizer in stoppage time for Veracruz to help his side to a 2-2 draw.
Cruz Azul used a 53rd-minute penalty kick from Rogelio Martinez to top Monterrey, 1-0, Puebla snatched a point at home against UNAM after Matias Alustiza converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute of a 1-1 draw, and Pachuca topped Toluca, 1-0, with Othoniel Arce providing the lone goal of the contest for Pachuca.
