Astros designate Pena, Cedeno for assignment

Houston, TX – The Houston Astros designated infielders Carlos Pena and Ronny Cedeno for assignment following Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.

The 35-year-old Pena batted .209 with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 85 games this season. Cedeno hit .220 with one home run and 12 RBI in 51 games.

In addition, the Astros have recalled infielder Jonathan Villar from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Villar batted .278 with eight home runs, 41 RBI and 31 stolen bases in 90 games for the RedHawks.
