Diego Maradona Denied Tourist Visa To Visit Disney World With Family

Even if you are one of the greatest soccer players in the world, remember… Disney World is a privilege.

Argentinean soccer legend Diego Maradona was denied a visa to the United States for a family vacation to Orlando, Fla. Disney World theme park, according to The Sun.

An unnamed source from the British daily said the decision was “political.”

“[Maradona's] relationship with the U.S. has never been good. His friendships with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez and other enemies of the U.S. stopped him being given permission before," the source told The Sun.

Not only was he a self-proclaimed “Chavista” — he also has a tattoo of Castro, another of Che Guevarra and is a public supporter of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

He protested against former President George W. Bush and has spoken out against America’s encroaching imperialism.

Despite all that, he was still a fan of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and company, and was really looking forward to visiting the “Magic Kingdom,” according to a source close to him.

"It was a bit of a kick in the teeth for Diego. The family was really excited about the holiday," said the unnamed source.

The family members that were supposed to take the trip to Disney World included Maradona's four-year-old grandson, his 26-year-old daughter and his 22-year-old girlfriend, according to The Sun.

Maradona, 52, recently re-upped as the city of Dubai’s sports ambassador and applied for a visa through the U.S. embassy in the United Arab Emirates city.
