The Chicago Cubs recalled infielder/outfielder Junior Lake on Friday to fill the roster spot that had been held by outfielder Brian Bogusevic, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

In his first season at Triple-A Iowa, Lake has hit .295 with four homers, 18 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 40 games. He didn't join the club until June 6 because of a rib fracture.

The 23-year-old, who was ranked the ninth-best prospect in the Cubs' organization by MLB.com, has yet to make his major league debut and will be available for Friday's game in Colorado.

Bogusevic will head for the DL after aggravating a left hamstring injury in Sunday's first-half finale against St. Louis. The move is retroactive to July 15.

The 29-year-old is batting .261 in 13 games with the Cubs this season.
