Manchester, England – Manchester City bolstered its attacking options on Friday by securing the signing of Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo.
The 27-year-old joins City for a fee of $36 million after he finished fourth in La Liga with 25 goals for Sevilla last term.
City has been in need of attacking options since the departures of Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez, and in Negredo, manager Manuel Pellegrini gets a proven scorer who netted 70 goals in four seasons with Sevilla.
"For four years I have been very happy, but I think my time was here over. I am happy to go to a big team," Negredo told Sevilla's website.
Negredo has been capped 14 times by Spain, scoring six goals, and he becomes the third new arrival at the Etihad Stadium this summer along with Sevilla teammate Jesus Navas and Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.
City is also on the verge of adding another attacking player in Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic after the two sides agreed to a fee believed to be in the region of $34 million.
