Bert Trautmann, a former German prisoner of war who became Manchester City's goalkeeper and helped the team win the FA Cup despite a broken neck for the last 17 minutes of the final, has died, the German soccer federation said. He was 89.
The federation says Trautmann died in La Llosa, near Valencia, Spain, where he lived.
The federation says Trautmann's wife Marlies told them he died Friday morning.
