The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that kicker Connor Barth will miss the upcoming season after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

Barth, who will placed on the non-football injury list, suffered the injury in his hometown of Wilmington, NC, last Friday.

The Buccaneers replaced Barth by signing veteran Lawrence Tynes to a one-year contract.

"We are disappointed to lose a productive player like Connor, but are very fortunate to be able to sign an experienced kicker at this time of year," Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement Wednesday. "Lawrence and his agent, Ken Harris, had other standing opportunities, but we are pleased that they thought this was the right place for Lawrence to continue his career."

Tynes played the last six seasons with the New York Giants, winning two Super Bowls. The 35-year-old has converted 190-of-233 field goals in 129 career games with the Kansas City Chiefs and Giants.
