Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Timberwolves have finalized a contract with free agent swingman Corey Brewer, the team announced Friday.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, though the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Wednesday that Brewer would sign a three-year, $15 million contract to begin a second tour of duty with the Timberwolves.
The six-year pro was selected by Minnesota with the seventh overall pick of the 2007 draft and spent three-plus seasons with the Timberwolves before being traded to the New York Knicks in February of 2011. Brewer averaged 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 245 games (149 starts) with Minnesota.
Brewer is coming off a solid 2012-13 campaign with Denver in which the versatile 27-year-old averaged 12.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in a sixth-man role for a Nuggets team that won 57 games. The 6-foot-9 Florida product is expected to rotate with both returnee Chase Budinger at the small forward slot and fellow free-agent pickup Kevin Martin at shooting guard.
"We are excited to bring Corey Brewer back to the Timberwolves," said Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders. "Corey is a quality defender and has improved his all-around game during his six years in the NBA. We believe he will fit our system really well and we look forward to watching him in a Wolves uniform again."
Over 368 career regular-season contests, Brewer has averaged 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
