Oakland, CA – The Golden State Warriors picked up Mark Jackson's option on Wednesday, keeping the head coach under contract through the 2014-15 season.
In his second season at the helm, Jackson guided a young Warriors squad to a 47-35 record, a second place finish in the Pacific Division and the sixth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.
It was Golden State's first playoff berth in six seasons and fourth postseason appearance in club history. Under Jackson's guidance, the team pulled a first round upset by knocking out the third seeded Denver Nuggets. They then pushed the eventual Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs in the second round before bowing out in six games.
Jackson went 23-43 during 2011-12, his first season as a coach, but the Warriors posted the second-highest winning percentage improvement in the NBA this past season.
