The Chicago Cubs have reportedly agreed to trade outfielder Scott Hairston to the Washington Nationals.

FoxSports.com reported early Monday morning that the Nationals will acquire the 33-year-old Hairston for a minor-league pitching prospect.

Hairston has been used sparingly by the Cubs, who signed the veteran outfielder to a two-year, $5 million deal this past offseason. In 51 games, he has 98 at-bats and has hit for a .172 average with eight homers and 19 RBI.

Last season, Hairston hit 20 home runs while playing for the New York Mets. He has also spent time with Arizona, San Diego and Oakland over the course of 10- year career.
