The Oakland Athletics recalled second baseman Grant Green from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Monday's opener of a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Green, the A's first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, earned a promotion after batting .318 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI with the River Cats. He is currently tied for second in the Pacific Coast League in runs scored (61) and hits (112), while his 25 doubles ranked fourth in the circuit.

The 25-year-old entered this season rated as the organization's No. 8 overall prospect by Baseball America.

In a corresponding move, Oakland designated utility infielder Adam Rosales for assignment.

Rosales was batting just .200 with four homers and eight RBI in 48 games this season and has mustered a .140 average since May 10.
