The Minnesota Timberwolves cut ties with center Greg Stiemsma and forward Mickael Gelabale by placing both players on waivers Sunday.

Stiemsma played in 76 games and made 19 starts for Minnesota last season, averaging 4.0 points and 3.4 rebounds over 15.9 minutes per contest. The 6- foot-11 second-year pro's roster spot was placed in jeopardy, however, when the Timberwolves drafted Louisville center Gorgui Dieng with the 21st overall pick of the recent NBA Draft.

Gelabale was signed off the street by the T-Wolves in January with the team decimated by injuries and made 36 appearances, averaging 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in nearly 18 minutes per game.
