The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms on a one-year, $800,000 contract with goaltender Anton Khudobin.

The 27-year-old Khudobin saw his most extensive playing time in the NHL last season as the backup to Boston's Tuukka Rask, going 9-4-1 with a 2.32 goals- against average and a .920 save percentage.

He'll now share the crease with Carolina incumbent Cam Ward.

"Anton proved to be a very capable NHL backup for the Bruins last year. This solidifies an elite goaltending tandem for the Hurricanes," general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement.

Khudobin was chosen by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round of the 2004 draft.
