The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Bobby Ryan in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks.

The Senators announced the deal Friday afternoon. In acquiring the four-time 30-goal scorer, the Senators dealt forwards Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen and their first-round pick in next year's draft to Anaheim.

The deal was completed hours into the start of the NHL's free-agency period, and shortly after the Senators lost out on re-signing Daniel Alfredsson. The long-time Senators captain signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings.

Ryan was selected with the No. 2 pick by Anaheim in the 2005 draft. He has 289 points (147 goals, 142 assists) in 378 career games.

Silfverberg had a solid rookie season in which he had 10 goals and nine assists in 48 games.
