Oakland Athletics starter Bartolo Colon has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for June.

The 40-year-old right-hander finished the season's third month with a 5-0 record and 1.75 earned run average in 36 innings over five starts en route to his fourth career monthly honor and first since 2005 with the Angels.

Colon worked at least six innings in each of his outings, completing June with a pair of eight-inning victories, against Seattle and St. Louis. Against the Cards, he turned in the finest performance of the month, limiting them to six hits and one run while fanning five.

Others receiving votes included Detroit starter Max Scherzer, Baltimore's Chris Tillman, Ervin Santana and closer Greg Holland from the Kansas City Royals and Rangers hurler Yu Darvish.
