We've become so accustomed to the San Antonio Spurs drafting late and turning out spectacular NBA players.

That streak may have ended.

Jean-Charles is a marginal prospect who will probably stay overseas, which is just fine for the Spurs. They can wait until he comes to Alamo City to turn him into an important role player.

Thomas is a big-time scorer, but a horrendous defensive player. This is the type of kid Gregg Popovich can work with and mold into a productive player in the league.

When you're the Spurs, you don't need huge impact guys right away. Yes, they plucked Kawhi Leonard a few drafts ago and he's an All-Star in waiting. But this draft seems like a San Antonio special, just without the promise of the picks as years past.
