The New York Knicks could afford to take the best player available with their only pick in the draft.
Hardaway is a guy who moved up draft boards and it makes sense. He was a critical part of the Michigan squad that went to the NCAA Championship game and is the son of former All-Star, Tim Hardaway.
Hardaway can shoot, but he's not great off the dribble. He's a solid citizen. Hardaway won't kill you out on the floor, but he won't do anything that will make you think he's a future All-Star.
Can Hardaway crack the Knicks rotation? Maybe, but only as a backup to Carmelo Anthony. Where are the minutes in that scenario?
Still, the Knicks had some other more pressing needs like backup point guard if Pablo Prigioni bolts back to the European league, or big man to help the aging front line.
This pick was solid, but unspectacular.
