The Chicago White Sox placed third baseman Conor Gillaspie on the paternity leave list prior to Wednesday's game with the New York Mets.

Gillaspie, who has started 55 of Chicago's 74 games at third base this season, is awaiting the birth of his first child and will miss anywhere from one to three games.

The rookie is batting .246 with five home runs and 18 RBI over 65 total games in 2013.

Chicago recalled third baseman Brent Morel from Triple-A Charlotte to fill the available roster spot.

Morel, the White Sox' regular third baseman in 2011, was batting .280 with 19 doubles, five homers and 40 RBI with the Knights. The 26-year-old is a career .230 hitter with 13 homers over 182 games in the majors.
