Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees placed first baseman Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Teixeira left Friday's game against the Blue Jays in the second inning with a right hamstring strain.

He suffered the injury while fielding a bouncing foul ball and left the field before being replaced by Kelly Johnson, who moved over from his spot at third. Johnson will take over as the everyday first baseman in Teixeira's absence.

Teixeira is batting .250 (3-for-12) with two RBI in four games this year. He was limited to just 15 games last season due to a wrist injury that required surgery.

Catcher Austin Romine was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the roster spot.
