Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Ausar Walcott was reportedly arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder in New Jersey.

According to the Bergen Record, Walcott allegedly punched a man outside a bar early Sunday morning. The paper said the victim, Derrick Jones, was hospitalized in critical condition.

The Record said Walcott turned himself into police on Tuesday and was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering an injured victim.

The Browns officially released Walcott, a native of Hackensack, N.J. who was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Virginia, on Wednesday.
