Former New Mexico State starting quarterback Andrew Manley has transferred to Eastern Illinois and is eligible immediately for the team, coach Dino Babers said Tuesday.
Manley, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, started all 12 games for New Mexico State last year, passing for 2,764 yards with 18 touchdowns. He had a pair of 300-yard games with a season-high 367 yards against UTEP.
The native of Wahiawa, Hawaii, made four starts as a true freshman in 2010 and was injured during his third start in 2011. He gained a medical redshirt for that season.
Eastern Illinois, the defending Ohio Valley Conference champion which opens its season on Aug. 31 at San Diego State, returns its starting quarterback, senior Jimmy Garoppolo.
