Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Camilo Sanvezzo was named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 17 of the regular season on Monday.
Camilo becomes the second straight Whitecaps player to win the award after Kenny Miller claimed the honors in Week 16. The 24-year-old scored two goals and added an assist to lift Vancouver to a 3-1 win over Chivas USA on Wednesday at BC Place.
After falling behind early in the opening period, Camilo helped draw Vancouver level by setting up Jordan Harvey for the equalizer in stoppage time.
Camilo handed the 'Caps the lead just 82 seconds later by cutting inside from the right side of the penalty area and curling a left-footed shot just inside the post.
The Brazilian completed his brace nine minutes from time when he fired a shot from inside the box that took a deflection on its way past Dan Kennedy.
The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
