Sacramento Kings 2013 Draft Preview

Now that the Sacramento Kings are staying in California's capital, armed with a new general manager and a new coach, consistency may finally be a norm.

Doubtful. It's the Kings after all.

Pete D'Alessandro, a former executive with the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets, is now in charge. The Maloofs are gone and basketball operations are his.

Mike Malone, a Golden State assistant, is the head coach.

Let their work begin.

The first big question which awaits D'Alessandro is what to do with Tyreke Evans. The swing man was the 2009-10 NBA Rookie of the Year, but has regressed. The previous regime didn't offer him an extension and he heads into the offseason a restricted free agent.

The other order of business revolves around center DeMarcus Cousins. He is supremely talented and supremely confounding, attitude-wise. Cousins has to grow up quickly. D'Alessandro could look to trade him and no one would blame him, but the kind of talent Cousins possesses at the age of 22, is remarkable.

Reports say the Kings love Shabazz Muhammad, the UCLA swing man. He could easily step if for Evans.

Point guard help could be needed a readily available. Both Michigan's Trey Burke and Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams should be on the board when Sacramento picks at No. 7.

D'Alessandro is an analytics guy, so whatever the numbers show you, which won't help Muhammad's case, that could be the guy.
