Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron was set to fly home with the team Sunday after being released from a Chicago hospital Saturday night.
Bergeron left Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday night and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
The Bruins on Sunday said only that Bergeron had been discharged from the hospital and did not divulge the reason for the visit or any type of injury.
Near the midway point of the second period, Bergeron took a short shift and appeared to be in discomfort. He stayed on the bench for the rest of the period, but took only one more brief shift.
When the Bruins came out for the start of the third period, Bergeron wasn't on the bench and the team later announced that he was taken to a local hospital for observation.
Bergeron has nine goals and six assists over 21 games in the playoffs.
Boston dropped a 3-1 decision Saturday to fall into a 3-2 hole in the series. Game 6 is set for Monday night in Boston.
