Omaha, NE – Hunter Renfroe hit a three-run homer to fuel Mississippi State's 4-1 victory over Oregon State on Friday at the College World Series.
C.T. Bradford added a pair of hits and drove in the other run for the Bulldogs, who await the winner of the later UCLA/North Carolina tilt in the best-of-three games championship series.
Kendall Graveman tossed 5 2/3 innings of effective ball, scattering four hits and one run for the win.
Andy Peterson's sixth-inning RBI single was all the offense for the Beavers, who had scored just two runs in their last two games after an 11-4 blowout decision over Louisville.
Andrew Moore was tagged in defeat for nine hits and four runs over 4 2/3 frames.
Mississippi State got on the board in the fourth as Brett Pirtle singled with one out, Wes Rea followed with a double and Bradford's base hit brought in Pirtle.
That set the stage for Renfroe, who broke open the contest in the fifth with his shot to left that put the Bulldogs up 4-0. Adam Frazier kept the inning alive with a two-out single, then Alex Detz added a base hit ahead of the blast.
Graveman was pulled after giving up the run-scoring hit from Peterson with two away in the sixth, then Ross Mitchell worked from there into the ninth, allowing four hits over 2 2/3 scoreless frames. Jonathan Holder recorded the final two outs of the contest.
