The Philadelphia Union announced on Wednesday that the club has added goalkeeper Oka Nikolov from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Nikolov is expected to provide depth and serve as a mentor behind first-choice goalkeeper Zac MacMath, who has started all 15 of the Union's league games this season, posting a 6-5-4 record.

The 39-year-old Nikolov will join Philadelphia pending reception of his P-1 Visa, International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and a medical examination, and he will occupy an international roster spot.

"We're excited to have a player with Nikolov's experience and leadership join our team," Union head coach John Hackworth said in a statement. "We think he will provide excellent depth and mentorship to our young goalkeepers."

Nikolov has spent the past 18 years of his career with Eintracht, appearing in 414 matches, including 229 in the Bundesliga.

He started the final eight games of the season for Eintracht last term and has been capped five times by Macedonia on the international level.
