Robin Haase of the Netherlands and German Daniel Brands were first-round winners Sunday at the $545,000 Topshelf Open, a final grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.

Haase battled back from a set down to beat Leonardo Mayer of Argentina by a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 margin at Autotron Rosmalen.

Brands handled Jesse Huta Galung of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-2.

Two-time champion David Ferrer of Spain beat German Philipp Petzschner in last year's final.
