The Minnesota Twins activated third baseman Trevor Plouffe from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

Plouffe, who has not played since May 21 due to a concussion and a strained left calf, is in the starting lineup for Saturday's tilt and will bat sixth.

The former first-round pick missed over a week after being kicked in the head while trying to break up a double play at Atlanta on May 21, then injured his calf before returning to action after being reinstated from the 7-day concussion DL.

Plouffe was batting .254 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 37 games prior to the head injury.

Catcher/outfielder Chris Hermann, who went 6-for-13 with a home run in a seven-game stint with the Twins, was optioned to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move.
